Description

  • Design and build reliable, scalable, and observable production systems.
  • Own problems end to end from problem definition through design, data, implementation, deployment, and operations.
  • Work across application services, distributed systems, infrastructure, data pipelines, and machine learning systems.
  • Debug complex production issues across multiple layers of the stack.
  • Make engineering trade-offs based on first principles and sound technical judgment.
  • Improve system performance, latency, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical direction.
  • Write maintainable code and documentation.
  • Frame problems to determine when to use machine learning versus deterministic systems.
  • Train, evaluate, iterate on, deploy, and monitor machine learning models and pipelines.

Requirements

  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, operating systems, networking, and distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of probability and statistics.
  • Experience building production systems at scale.
  • Ability to work across multiple languages, including Go, Java, Python, Rust, and SQL.
  • Understanding of system behavior under load and failure.
  • Comfort working with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong debugging skills.
  • Ability to reason using invariants and failure modes.
  • Experience with data systems, streaming systems, ML infrastructure, or performance optimization is preferred.
