Description

  • Develop, implement, and monitor data privacy policies, procedures, and controls in line with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and support data protection compliance audits.
  • Coordinate timely, compliant responses to data subject access requests and other individual rights requests.
  • Manage requests for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability within statutory timelines.
  • Develop and enforce privacy documentation, including the Data Protection Policy, Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy, and Retention Policy.
  • Conduct and review Data Protection Impact Assessments for new products, systems, and vendors.
  • Identify and mitigate privacy risks in collaboration with IT and Risk teams.
  • Run privacy awareness campaigns and training across departments and maintain learning materials.
  • Oversee third-party processor due diligence, Data Processing Agreements, and vendor privacy compliance.
  • Manage data breach response, incident registers, regulatory reporting, and post-incident reviews.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning to protect personal data recoverability.
  • Prepare regulatory reports, correspondence, filings, and responses for the NDPC and other regulators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in Data Protection, IT GRC, Compliance, or Cybersecurity, preferably in financial services or regulated institutions.
  • Professional certification such as CIPP/E, CDPO, or CIPM from an accredited issuing body.
  • Sound knowledge of the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA 2023), NDPC regulations, CBN IT Standards, and global frameworks such as GDPR.
  • Excellent understanding of data privacy principles, risk management, and control frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data lifecycle management, and handling financial customer data.
  • Strong analytical, communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High ethical standards, strong attention to detail, and the ability to spot compliance risks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and take initiative while working under supervision.
  • Tech-savvy with familiarity using data governance software.
