Description

  • Lead end-to-end data migration engagements, including assessment, strategy, transformation, pipeline development, validation, and production cutover.
  • Design and operate CDC pipelines for zero- and near-zero-downtime migrations using Kafka, Debezium, connectors, and cloud-native replication services.
  • Analyze Cassandra, Cosmos DB, DocumentDB, and relational-platform architectures to identify migration risks and design mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, DBAs, platform teams, executives, Solutions Architects, Engagement Managers, and account teams.
  • Own engagement planning, delivery, post-engagement follow-up, risk management, and identification of additional services opportunities.
  • Scope migration opportunities, develop statements of work and estimates, and support pre-sales activities.
  • Build AI-powered migration tooling for estate assessment, schema and query conversion, code translation, and large-scale validation.
  • Create reusable playbooks, reference architectures, estimation models, tooling enhancements, and team enablement materials.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to inform MongoDB’s product and migration-tooling roadmap.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or consulting delivery focused on production-scale data platforms and data movement.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
  • Hands-on expertise with Apache Cassandra, Azure Cosmos DB, Amazon DocumentDB, or another distributed NoSQL platform, including data modeling, consistency, partitioning, and failure modes.
  • Practical CDC and streaming-pipeline experience with Kafka or Confluent Platform, connectors, Debezium or equivalent tools, schema evolution, delivery semantics, and backfill-plus-tail patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL and production-safe data extraction.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, Node.js, C#, Go, or a similar programming language for pipeline, validation, and tooling development.
  • Working fluency with AI in engineering workflows.
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic, customer interaction, presentation, and production-cutover problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 30%, primarily within EMEA.
  • Preferred: experience with LLMs and coding agents, Spark or Flink, dual-write patterns, cloud DMS services, data-validation frameworks, AWS/Azure/GCP architecture, competitive platform displacement, MongoDB, or a second relevant European language.
