Description

  • Own and improve the build and release process for MongoDB’s core database.
  • Build on existing automation to simplify and streamline the release process.
  • Collaborate with developers, management, and external stakeholders to drive cross-functional release work.
  • Maintain visibility into escalated cases for the Server Development teams and move them toward resolution.
  • Manage MongoDB releases to deliver critical fixes and major feature improvements.
  • Investigate, summarize, and communicate significant issues for internal and external users.
  • Identify patterns in large volumes of information and take appropriate action.
  • Assess potential user impact from issues and prioritize solutions accordingly.
  • Scope and drive improvements to release tools and processes over time.
  • Prepare and present release-process updates for different audiences.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • 2+ years of experience combining software engineering and release management experience.
  • Excellent technical communication skills to support sound decision making.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and automate manual processes.
  • Ability to quickly understand system behavior and synthesize technical implications.
  • Ability to contribute to tools written in Python, JavaScript, or Go.
  • Ability to read and understand code intent and stack traces across many languages, especially C++.
  • Experience as a release manager for a highly technical product is preferred.
  • Experience delegating and prioritizing work without direct authority is preferred.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, and continuous integration testing is preferred.
  • Technical aptitude in systems, network, or database administration is preferred.
  • Experience in consulting, technical support, or site reliability engineering is preferred.
  • Experience administering large-scale production environments, including hardware, Linux/Unix operating systems, networks, firewalls, and load balancers is preferred.
  • Interest in distributed systems, consensus algorithms, data replication, query optimization, data storage, OS internals, concurrency and scheduling, and networking is preferred.
