Description

  • Monitor contract performance and quantify the profitability of managed care programs.
  • Develop remediation strategies for underperforming contracts in partnership with senior market access leadership.
  • Work with insurers, sales leadership, and marketing to implement redirection and other pull-through programs.
  • Support strategy development and prioritization for managed care contracting.
  • Assist with insurer contract proposals, including deal structure, analysis, forecasting, and profitability reporting.
  • Build relationships with sales, contracting, finance, billing, analytics, legal, and customers to support market access decisions.
  • Manage existing insurer contracts, support renewals, and renegotiate fee schedules to improve revenue.
  • Analyze in-network reimbursement rates and pursue opportunities to improve below-market rates.
  • Support policy and advocacy-related work with external industry organizations.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities, resourcing, funding, reimbursement, and access initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree encouraged.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Market Access contracting, policy development, or similar responsibilities.
  • Experience in a health services, device, or pharmaceutical company; related laboratory experience preferred.
  • Successful experience selling to or advocating directly with payer organizations and influencing payer decision-makers.
  • Documented experience negotiating contracts and/or managing contract maintenance with major health insurance companies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with quantitative and qualitative analysis capability.
  • Ability to influence without authority and maintain an existing network of payer relationships.
  • Strong computer software skills, including in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and to the company’s San Diego headquarters.
