Description

  • Design, build, test, and ship maintainable backend services and APIs to production.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and challenge unclear requirements.
  • Develop with Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Postgres, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
  • Deploy product services to AWS and Kubernetes using GitHub Actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable systems.
  • Write JUnit and Kotest tests and participate in code reviews as an author and reviewer.
  • Improve architecture, engineering patterns, processes, and technical-debt management.

Requirements

  • A few years of experience building backend services in Java or Kotlin.
  • Comfort with the Spring framework.
  • Experience with relational databases and data modeling for query performance.
  • Clear communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and ownership mindset.
  • Willingness to learn and work in Kotlin as the codebase migrates from Java.
  • Experience with Go or Terraform (preferred).
  • Experience with ORMs such as Hibernate and knowledge of when not to use them (preferred).
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP products or APIs (preferred).
  • Interest in networking concepts such as IP routing or MPLS (preferred).
