Description

  • Lead underwriting strategy to support the launch of successful credit programs.
  • Evaluate and refine credit policies and models for consumer and SMB credit card products to reduce losses and improve profitability.
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies for managing consumer and SMB credit card portfolios.
  • Perform risk segmentation, behavioral analysis, loss forecasting, line management, and related empirical analyses to inform underwriting models.
  • Build dashboards and deliver regular KPI and KRI reporting to senior management.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements affecting consumer and SMB credit card products.
  • Collaborate with Banking, Product, Finance, and Data teams on credit risk initiatives.
  • Partner with external bank partners and customers to build strong working relationships.
  • Own and improve credit risk analyses and decisioning approaches for complex portfolio issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or another quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a financial institution focused on credit risk analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, including machine learning techniques.
  • Ability to solve white space problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently on complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting complex data to senior leadership.
  • Innate curiosity and the ability to investigate problems with minimal instruction.
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis and modeling preferred.
  • Direct experience managing consumer and SMB credit card portfolios preferred.
  • Experience with automated decision engines preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit card industry regulatory standards preferred.
  • Must be able to work remotely in the United States from one of Marqeta’s approved National locations.

  • Competitive base salary of $99,000–$123,800 for National locations, $107,200–$134,000 for Premium locations, or $116,600–$145,700 for Premium Plus locations.
