Description

  • Work as part of a cross-functional squad to deliver high-quality features.
  • Provide technical input to the product backlog, including initiative prioritisation and breaking epics into sequenced delivery tasks.
  • Monitor the team’s delivery cadence and help improve team efficiency.
  • Promote modern engineering practices and tools within the squad, including TDD, pair programming, and efficient branching strategies.
  • Teach and mentor the squad on technology choices, software design practices, and ways of working.
  • Work on non-functional requirements with Infrastructure Engineers, Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Quality Coaches.
  • Collaborate on and recommend sound DevOps practices within the team.
  • Manage direct reports for at most one squad.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background with a focus on API development and re-platforming.
  • Previous team lead experience.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and the testing pyramid.
  • Good understanding of modern CD and software operations practices, including trunk-based development, 12-factor application principles, Docker, and monitoring tools like Datadog.
  • Understanding of software design patterns and when to use them.
  • Understanding of domain-driven design (DDD) concepts and how to apply them in practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • A ‘leave it better than you found it’ attitude toward code.
