Description

  • Design and build high-quality features and systems that integrate third-party data and services.
  • Develop partner-facing APIs, authentication flows, webhook handling, and gateway-layer infrastructure.
  • Build and evolve AI-native engineering workflows, including spec creation, code generation, testing, verification, and review processes.
  • Help define and document AI-native engineering practices and playbooks for the Foundry team and the broader organization.
  • Build across the full stack when needed to deliver polished, performant, and reliable experiences for tens of millions of users.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to turn complex user problems into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, technical standards, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
  • Mentor team members and help evolve team processes and engineering practices.
  • Support performance, reliability, and accessibility for the features and systems you own.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of backend software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or similar distributed streaming platforms.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, fault tolerance, replication, and data durability.
  • Comfortable working with cloud infrastructure, with AWS preferred.
  • Experience with containerized deployments.
  • Heavy user of agentic workflows and able to use AI tools without outsourcing critical thinking to agents.
  • Growth mindset and willingness to learn quickly and work outside your immediate area of expertise.
  • Collaborative communication style with the ability to work effectively across teams and explain technical tradeoffs clearly.
  • Ownership mentality from design through production and beyond.
  • Nice to have: background in stream processing frameworks such as Kafka Streams or Flink.
  • Nice to have: experience with schema registries and schema evolution strategies.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of Confluent Platform or Confluent Cloud.
  • Nice to have: understanding of CI/CD patterns, GitHub Actions, and artifact management tools such as Maven and Nexus.
  • Nice to have: experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or DataDog.
  • Nice to have: previous work on ecosystems or integration tooling.

  • Competitive pay with a salary range of $129,000 to $192,000 USD for US candidates or 149,500 to 177,500 CAD for Canada-based candidates.
