Description

  • Partner with domain squads in embedded engagements to ship code and tools that solve real problems.
  • Build shared platform infrastructure such as feature flags, canary rollouts, fast builds, and CI/CD patterns.
  • Extend AI across the engineering lifecycle, including ticket generation, config authoring, incident response, and code review.
  • Maintain and evolve core shared services across AWS, GitHub, Datadog, and Cloudflare.
  • Automate manual processes and remove friction from engineers’ day-to-day work.
  • Coach squads on SLOs, observability, and AI tooling so they can own production behaviour independently.
  • Identify, scope, and deliver high-leverage platform problems with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Work across frontend, backend, data engineering, data science, and warehouse tech teams to help engineers ship more safely and quickly.

Requirements

  • Day-to-day experience with AWS and Terraform, with good judgement around performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Experience with ECS Fargate, RDS, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, Lambda, and EventBridge.
  • Strong judgement across CI/CD and observability, including safe and reliable deployment practices using GitHub Actions and Terraform Cloud.
  • Comfort using metrics, logs, and traces to understand application and infrastructure behaviour.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for AI coding tools, or willingness to adopt AI-assisted working practices.
  • Willingness to work with Ruby and Python and operate within long-lived monoliths without rewriting them.
  • Ability to take end-to-end ownership of problems, even without a ticket, and define the problem before the solution.
  • Curious, innovative, and open to feedback, coaching, learning, and development.
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working cross-functionally with other teams.
  • Preferred: experience rolling out production-ownership practices across a team or organisation.
  • Preferred: experience working on an e-commerce site or in a fast-growing, preferably consumer-facing, environment.
  • Preferred: experience setting patterns that other engineers adopted independently.
  • Preferred: experience building services or apps for distributed architectures using APIs, event-driven patterns, and stable system contracts.
  • Can be based in the UK, the Netherlands, or elsewhere, with flexibility on working location.
