Description

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the design, implementation, and evolution of AI-powered solutions and AI agents for internal engineering workflows.
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader through system design, code reviews, and direct contribution to AI-driven capabilities.
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact use cases for AI across the software development lifecycle, including code generation, testing, debugging, incident analysis, and documentation.
  • Architect and implement scalable, secure systems that combine backend engineering with AI components such as LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, and agent-based workflows.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define AI use cases and deliver measurable impact.
  • Establish best practices for building, evaluating, and maintaining production AI systems, including observability, performance, cost control, and reliability.
  • Drive adoption of AI tools and practices across engineering teams and mentor developers on effective AI usage.
  • Ensure AI implementations meet security and regulatory requirements, including PCI DSS, GDPR, and DORA.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production issues involving traditional systems and AI or agent-based workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 7 years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience with Java as the primary programming language.
  • 4+ years leading hybrid engineering teams, including in-house and outsourced members.
  • Experience in the payment industry, fintech, banking, or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of high-availability systems, regulatory constraints, and secure architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents such as Cursor, kilo.ai, warp.dev, or Claude Code.
  • Experience applying AI to developer productivity, engineering workflow automation, and incident analysis or debugging support.
  • Deep expertise in software architecture, microservices, and AWS cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience using AI agents to support test-driven development and behavior-driven testing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of OOP, SOLID design, Clean Architecture, and advanced software design patterns.
  • Proficiency in HTTP, RESTful service design and consumption, and building secure, high-performance APIs.
  • Experience with database design and optimization using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Run, or AWS Lambda.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, data-driven decision-making ability, and strong communication skills.
  • High level of ownership and agency, with the ability to drive initiatives end-to-end.
  • Node.js or Python experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • AWS certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with modern Java frameworks such as Quarkus and native compilation with GraalVM is preferred.
