Description

  • Evaluate the current platform architecture and define target-state domain boundaries across multiple products.
  • Identify convergence opportunities and technical debt reduction paths across systems.
  • Design and lead integration strategies between heterogeneous systems using APIs, Kafka, or event streams.
  • Decompose monolithic applications into domain-based services or bounded contexts using domain-driven design principles.
  • Define data synchronization patterns, API versioning practices, and schema evolution approaches for distributed systems.
  • Architect shared platform services such as authentication, identity, content, and analytics for web and mobile products.
  • Apply AWS, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and CI/CD standards to support secure and high-quality releases.
  • Provide technical mentorship, architectural reviews, and knowledge transfer across engineering teams.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to align architecture decisions with roadmaps and business outcomes.
  • Author and socialize architecture decision records, domain maps, and shared service contracts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a senior or principal architecture role.
  • Experience designing and evolving architectures in high-scale, multi-product environments.
  • Experience with Rails, Node.js, and React Native is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of domain-driven design, service decomposition, and event-driven patterns.
  • Strong AWS architecture experience with ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, EventBridge, and SQS/SNS.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Experience defining and implementing CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, and deployment strategies such as canary, blue-green, and multi-environment.
  • Solid understanding of data synchronization, API design, schema evolution, and distributed systems reliability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for mentorship, system design, and building architectures that support product and team growth.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $200,000–$230,000 OTE.
  • Market-based, data-driven compensation evaluated bi-annually.
  • Permanent team members are eligible to participate in benefits plans.
  • Fully remote candidates may be considered for select positions.
  • Offices available in Boston, MA; Vancouver, BC; Chicago, IL; and Vancouver, WA.
