Description

  • Lead and manage scientific and research operations at AccuWeather.
  • Serve as the senior advisor on innovation across the organization.
  • Develop AccuWeather’s next-generation weather forecasting technology and systems.
  • Drive innovation in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.
  • Create new data products for the media and business services portfolio.
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and develop a pipeline of new ideas from across the company.
  • Define and create early proof-of-concepts in collaboration with the Product Office.
  • Determine budgets, resourcing needs, and project timelines for innovation initiatives.
  • Lead collaborations with academic research partners and external companies as needed.
  • Recommend acquisitions when appropriate.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Meteorology, Statistics, or a related science/technology field.
  • 10 years of experience in a similar leadership position.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence, specifically deep learning and neural networks.
  • Prior experience leading teams of 5-10 individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of meteorological data is highly desired.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing and strict deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees, clients, prospective clients, and community organizations.
