Description

  • Lead and manage the company’s scientific and research operations.
  • Serve as the senior advisor on innovation across AI, meteorology, and scientific disciplines.
  • Lead the definition and development of AccuWeather’s next-generation weather forecasting system.
  • Create innovative solutions for health, energy, sports, and transportation use cases.
  • Build new intellectual capabilities and patents while leveraging existing intellectual property.
  • Create and grow teams responsible for innovation.
  • Develop new data products for the media and business services portfolio.
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and manage a pipeline of new ideas from across the company.
  • Define early proof-of-concepts in collaboration with the Product Office.
  • Set budgets, resourcing needs, and project timelines.
  • Lead collaborations with academic research partners and external companies as needed.
  • Recommend acquisitions when appropriate.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Meteorology, Statistics, or a related Science/Technology field required.
  • 10 years of experience in a similar leadership position.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence, including deep learning and neural networks.
  • Prior experience leading teams of 5-10 individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under changing and strict deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, clients, prospective clients, and community organizations.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, multitask, and adapt to rapidly changing needs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of meteorological data is highly desired.
