Description

  • Serve as a strategic partner and trusted resource for people managers and individual contributors.
  • Partner with leadership to anticipate workforce risks and support organizational scaling across all sites.
  • Coach managers on how to address people matters confidentially and compliantly.
  • Respond to employee questions and provide guidance on core HR functions.
  • Proactively identify and resolve employee relations issues in a timely, collaborative, and fair manner.
  • Develop and deploy HR policies, programs, and processes that support contractual, legal, and business scaling needs.
  • Drive initiatives that improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives such as diversity and inclusion and workforce development programs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner, preferably with technical teams, engineering, and operational leadership.
  • Experience and success in high-growth environments, such as an early-stage or fast-scaling startup.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach managers and individual contributors while resolving complex matters without damaging relationships.
  • Experience with succession planning and longer-term leadership development.
  • Hands-on experience managing complex employee relations matters, internal investigations, and similar contentious issues.
  • Direct experience with California labor and employment law, including non-exempt and exempt workers, wage and hour matters, and employee entitlements.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and own complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Direct experience with HRIS and performance management tools such as 15Five, Rippling, Leapsome, Lattice, or ADP Workforce Now.
  • Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are preferred.
  • Experience working in a California-based aerospace, engineering, technology, or hardware manufacturing startup is preferred.
  • Experience using people data analytics to make recommendations and influence outcomes is preferred.
  • Experience with AI tools and applications is preferred.
  • Experience managing HR functions for non-exempt employees with knowledge of California labor regulations is preferred.

  • Base salary range of $120,000 to $150,000, plus equity in the company.
