Description

  • Design and develop radiofrequency and microwave hardware from UHF 200 MHz through Ka band 30 GHz.
  • Design phased array antennas, low-noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, filters, RF mixers, up/downconverters, high-speed data converters, and related RF components.
  • Design spacecraft PCB assemblies, including architecture, schematic capture, component selection, layout, bring-up, and debugging.
  • Qualify designs through environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing.
  • Architect, develop, own, test, and integrate new RF electronics for software defined radio systems.
  • Collaborate with antenna, FPGA, DSP, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers to prototype and refine designs.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to integrate designs into the spacecraft system.
  • Support the goal of flying the system in space within the first two years of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 1+ years of experience in microwave and RF engineering.
  • Experience designing multilayer PCBAs and integrating commercial off-the-shelf integrated circuits for RF applications in Altium or similar PCB design tools.
  • Experience with RF circuit modeling and analysis software such as Cadence AWR Microwave Office and Keysight ADS.
  • Experience with RF test equipment such as vector network analyzers (VNA) and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-velocity startup environment.
  • Experience with component selection for space radiation environments and flying hardware in space (preferred).
  • Experience with antenna and electromagnetic modeling tools such as Ansys Electronics Desktop HFSS and Altair FEKO (preferred).
  • Experience with FPGA design, implementation, verification, and validation for RF applications (preferred).
  • Experience with software defined radio hardware development, including high-speed RF data converters, clock trees, and data converter interfaces (preferred).
  • Experience with phased arrays and digital beamforming (preferred).
  • Experience with SIGINT, electronic warfare (EW), and/or satellite telecommunications (preferred).
  • Knowledge of RF digital communications and DSP concepts such as spread spectrum, forward error correction, and modulation types such as BPSK and QAM (preferred).
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license due to ITAR requirements.
