Description

  • Lead the overall spacecraft GNC architecture and set direction with other engineering leads.
  • Execute trade studies for guidance, attitude control, and attitude/orbit estimation systems.
  • Develop novel algorithms for precise pointing and slewing of very large, flexible spacecraft structures.
  • Own and execute the Verification and Validation plan for the GNC stack to drive flight readiness.
  • Analyze vehicle performance in nominal and off-nominal environments and update the GNC stack and 6-DOF simulation based on findings.
  • Support launch and on-orbit operations for the first full demonstration of the K2 spacecraft bus, the Mega.
  • Scope and support Block 2 upgrades to the GNC stack and 6-DOF simulation.
  • Plan and develop future tooling for mission design, precision pointing and controls analysis, constellation development, and simulation.
  • Develop simulation and modeling tools to support vehicle and GNC trade studies.
  • Recruit, hire, and mentor engineers to help build the GNC organization.

Requirements

  • Experience with GNC actuator or sensor sizing, selection, and system design.
  • Experience implementing attitude control and/or estimation algorithms on spacecraft.
  • Experience with verification and validation of GNC flight software in an integrated environment using 6-DOF simulation and HITL testing.
  • Experience with early-stage spacecraft conceptual design or clean-sheet design work.
  • Experience with Python, Julia, C/C++, or Matlab for algorithm development, implementation, and simulation.
  • Experience with control algorithm development (preferred).
  • Experience with reaction wheels, control moment gyroscopes, or thrusters, including sizing and algorithm implementation (preferred).
  • Experience with navigation, specifically Extended Kalman Filters (preferred).
  • Experience with trajectory analysis, modeling, and mission design (preferred).
  • Willingness to work in an export-controlled environment and meet U.S. person or license eligibility requirements.
  • Ability to contribute in a fast-paced startup environment.
