Description

  • Own and drive the strategy for developer experience improvements across the entire JCP platform.
  • Define what a great development experience looks like and lead the organization toward that vision.
  • Optimize build systems (e.g., Gradle, Nx, Maven, Bazel) for faster builds, better caching, and reproducible results at scale.
  • Design and improve CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) to reduce build times, increase reliability, optimize resource usage, and shorten feedback loops.
  • Set up and manage AI development pipelines, including context management, agents, and handoffs, leveraging JCP tools.
  • Improve containerized development workflows (Docker, Dev Containers) to ensure fast and consistent local environments.
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks across the development cycle from commit to production deployment.
  • Establish best practices, tooling standards, and shared infrastructure to enable teams to move faster and more reliably.
  • Collaborate with platform and product teams and drive cross-team initiatives to understand pain points and deliver high-impact improvements.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with build systems such as Gradle, Maven, Bazel (and familiarity with Nx) and a track record of optimizing them at scale.
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or similar) with experience ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized development workflows, including Dev Containers.
  • Practical understanding of the full software development lifecycle and the ability to reason about developer productivity holistically.
  • Proven ability to drive cross-team initiatives and influence engineering practices across a large organization.
  • Motivation to remove friction and make other engineers more productive.
  • Experience improving developer experience at scale in a platform or infrastructure organization (preferred).
  • Experience with AI-driven development pipelines (preferred).
  • Expertise in build caching, remote execution, and incremental build strategies, or experience contributing to/maintaining open-source build tooling or CI/CD infrastructure (preferred).
