Description

  • Lead a team of technical contributors, project managers, and other staff members, with responsibility for up to 8 people.
  • Partner with leadership to build and maintain a positive, healthy team culture.
  • Keep staff informed of company initiatives and communications.
  • Promote employee engagement, satisfaction, work-life balance, and career development.
  • Maintain strong client and colleague relationships to deliver quality work on time and within budget.
  • Manage client expectations through clear, thoughtful communication and support team members in doing the same.
  • Manage and implement a wide range of engineering design and consulting projects.
  • Ensure business processes are followed and recommend improvements to strengthen service delivery.
  • Work with Southern California leadership to execute company and regional strategies.
  • Recruit, retain, train, mentor, and coach technical staff on technical, project management, and business development topics.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical consulting work and client relationship development.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection engineering fundamentals.
  • Professional engineering license or similar professional designation is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to mentor and manage staff while also serving as a project manager.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to reside in or relocate to the San Diego area is preferred; hybrid or remote work will be considered.
  • Business development experience is not required.
