Description

  • Own delivery and technical execution across phased plans, including scope, sequencing, dependencies, capacity, and release readiness.
  • Run sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, and risk escalation processes.
  • Translate product requirements into technical workstreams and achievable increments.
  • Contribute to the codebase, review pull requests and designs, and debug production issues.
  • Prototype and de-risk ingestion workflows, model execution patterns, and other technical approaches.
  • Establish engineering standards for data modeling, lineage, governance, testing, CI/CD, observability, and environment promotion.
  • Ensure transformations, calculations, and model outputs are traceable, reproducible, secure, and audit-ready.
  • Lead production-readiness activities such as load testing, penetration testing, and access-control reviews.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and manage a distributed team of engineers.
  • Partner with Product, the PMO, customer-facing teams, and domain experts on priorities, dependencies, pilots, and regulatory alignment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers.
  • Recent, demonstrable production engineering contributions in a hands-on manager role.
  • Experience delivering data-intensive or ML-backed products from architecture through production operations.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills, with the ability to write and review production code.
  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, environment promotion, and release management.
  • Working knowledge of modern cloud data platforms; Databricks and Azure experience strongly preferred, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and workflow orchestration.
  • Experience executing phased delivery plans with external commitments and communicating status to executives.
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers in distributed or remote environments.
  • Strong written communication skills, including design documents, architecture decision records, and status reporting.
  • Preferred experience with regulated software, MLOps, geospatial analytics, agentic AI or LLM extraction, governed model integration, multi-tenant SaaS, AI-assisted coding tools, pipeline integrity, energy or critical infrastructure software, or building new engineering teams.
