Description

  • Create and execute IonQ’s SLED sales strategy across the full portfolio, including compute hardware, software, app development, networking, sensing, and space.
  • Develop senior-level relationships with state and academic institution stakeholders.
  • Identify new opportunities across state, local, higher education, and academic institutions.
  • Build and maintain a sales pipeline for IonQ’s quantum computing offerings.
  • Collaborate with prospects and customers to identify new use cases with IonQ’s AppDev team.
  • Qualify opportunities based on budget, skills, interest, executive commitment, and timing.
  • Prepare proposals that align with the opportunity and account for state and local restrictions.
  • Negotiate agreements and close business deals.
  • Partner with Customer Success to drive customer satisfaction.
  • Own account relationships and GTM strategy in partnership with a Field Engineering lead.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the Northeast US for this remote role.
  • Up to 50% domestic travel is required.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology sales or business development with quota-carrying responsibilities in the SLED space.
  • Existing relationships with academic and government stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or another relevant STEM field.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a willingness to be hands-on to get the job done.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business drivers and technology use in SLED.
  • Preferred: Existing relationships with academic and government stakeholders in the target geography.
  • Preferred: 15+ years of experience in hardware infrastructure or AI/ML technology sales or business development with quota-carrying responsibilities in the public sector.
  • Preferred: Experience in early market development for emerging technologies.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of high performance computing, quantum computing platforms, algorithms, and applications, including AI/ML.
  • Preferred: Experience in category creation selling for solutions that are not standard budget line items.
  • Preferred: Proven negotiating skills.
  • Preferred: Consultative selling experience with bespoke deal architectures in developing markets.
  • Must meet U.S. export control and government contract eligibility requirements, including U.S. Person status or other applicable authorized status.
