Description

  • Develop, support, and maintain core hCaptcha application tools and services for detecting and verifying user events.
  • Collaborate with Security and Machine Learning engineers to build features that improve hCaptcha's capabilities.
  • Work with team members and domain experts to implement solutions that help detect and mitigate fraud and automation.
  • Design and implement low-latency, high-availability features with transparent performance insights.
  • Write maintainable, well-documented, and well-tested code that meets open-source quality standards.
  • Support engineering excellence through code reviews, test automation, and on-call participation.
  • Practice DevSecOps by handling security implementations, monitoring, automation, and production systems.
  • Interact directly with enterprise customers and startups when needed, alongside product, customer success, and sales teams.
  • Contribute to systems and solutions used by hundreds of millions of daily users.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in backend engineering roles.
  • Proven experience building scalable solutions with JavaScript and/or Go.
  • Expertise in Web APIs, HTTP, SSL, and database management.
  • Strong background in serverless and containerization architectures.
  • Proficiency in network protocols and distributed systems.
  • Production experience with Python and Rust or Go is preferred.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as OWASP and CISA, attack vectors, botnets, and related concepts is preferred.
  • Experience working across infrastructure, including CI/CD pipelines, metrics-driven deployments, and system resource management, is preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call responsibilities and pre-employment screening, including verification of work history, education, and identity.
  • Final in-person interview and identity verification in your country of residence are required.
