Description

  • Serve as a technical resource in semantic web development across clinical, content, and data teams.
  • Design and write production-quality source code for data pipelines and services, including documenting design and implementation.
  • Implement and maintain deployment of semantic services using containerization (Docker) and cloud orchestration (Amazon ECS).
  • Contribute to and maintain automated deployment, testing, and integration via CI/CD pipelines.
  • Break down features with the product owner into actionable user stories and technical tasks.
  • Utilize, document, and publish taxonomies and ontologies that support core domain concepts.
  • Adhere to and support governance processes for structured data to ensure compliance across implementations.
  • Analyze complex data challenges, build inferences and reasoning across content, and architect scalable semantic solutions.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in a relevant STEM field with 3–5 years of relevant coding experience, or 5 years of relevant professional experience in semantic web development/data engineering.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python and Java.
  • Experience with AWS services (examples: EC2, EMR, RDS) and cloud deployment strategies.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex query authoring and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and cloud orchestration like Amazon ECS.
  • Familiarity with agile development and CI/CD processes and tools such as Git and Terraform.
  • Experience working with Spark and/or PySpark.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and lead cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bonus: familiarity with RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL and healthcare ontologies/standards such as SNOMED-CT, LOINC, RxNorm, and ICD-10.

  • Target base salary range: $100,000–$160,000 per year (final compensation varies by role level, experience, and location).
