Description

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for multiple revenue streams, including marketplace, advertising, subscriptions, and enterprise.
  • Assess revenue recognition issues under ASC 606, including principal vs. agent, variable consideration, consideration payable to customers, and contract modifications.
  • Partner with Sales, Business Development, Legal, and Product on contract review, deal structuring, and accounting conclusions.
  • Draft technical accounting memos, policy documentation, training materials, FAQs, and cross-functional guidance.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including journal entries, reconciliations, analytics, flux reviews, and disclosures.
  • Maintain an effective SOX control environment and support revenue-related audit and SOX activities.
  • Lead process improvements for revenue controls, audit requests, and timely resolution of issues with external auditors.
  • Work with FinSys and Data teams to improve revenue systems, tooling, automation, and data quality.
  • Support new product launches and pricing initiatives by translating business requirements into compliant accounting outcomes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of revenue accounting and/or audit experience with significant ASC 606 exposure at a public company or public accounting firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent with a strong accounting concentration.
  • Hands-on experience owning monthly revenue close for multiple revenue streams, including journal entries, reconciliations, analytics, and disclosure support.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting complex customer contracts and drafting technical accounting memos and conclusions.
  • Experience operating SOX 404 revenue controls and supporting external financial statement audits.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with an ERP system.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Background in Big 4/public accounting or high-growth technology, e-commerce, or marketplace environments preferred.
  • Experience with advertising and subscription revenue models, principal vs. agent assessments, and consideration payable to customers preferred.
  • Experience with revenue automation tools and reporting/controls platforms such as NetSuite or Workiva preferred.
  • Comfort analyzing large datasets or using SQL/BI tools preferred.
