Description

  • Define and drive the end-to-end technical strategy and architecture for the shopper activation domain.
  • Lead product strategy with Product and Design across onboarding funnel optimization, waitlist management, incentives, and supply levers.
  • Set OKRs, instrumentation, and experimentation plans for activation initiatives.
  • Own delivery of compliance and vendor workflows such as background checks and identity or eligibility systems.
  • Build auditable, privacy-first systems with strong observability and service-level agreements.
  • Run large cross-functional programs across engineering and business teams, managing risk, dependencies, and execution.
  • Mentor and develop engineers through design reviews, code quality practices, and technical standards.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of services while establishing and enforcing SLOs.
  • Drive incident learnings and promote secure-by-default, AI-augmented development workflows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, high-traffic services, or mobile backends.
  • 3+ years owning end-to-end architecture and technical strategy for a domain or product area.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives across 3+ teams and delivering under tight deadlines in ambiguous environments.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
  • Experience with modern cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP and data stores such as Postgres, DynamoDB, or Redis.
  • Hands-on experience building AI tooling or agentic automation and integrating AI into developer workflows or product features.
  • Experience designing compliant systems involving identity, eligibility, certifications, or other sensitive workflows.
  • Demonstrated mentorship and team development experience, including design guidance and rigorous code reviews.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: Experience partnering with Legal or Policy on compliance-related work and navigating evolving labor or regulatory requirements.
  • Preferred: Experience evaluating, integrating, and managing third-party vendors, including technical SLAs and zero-downtime migrations.
  • Preferred: Experience with experimentation platforms, analytics, and growth funnels to improve conversion, supply availability, and utilization.
  • Preferred: Experience building mobile-first products or collaborating closely with iOS and Android teams.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with trust and safety, fraud or identity, or background screening systems in high-scale marketplaces.
  • Preferred: Experience in marketplace, logistics, rideshare, or gig-economy environments.

  • Base salary range of $265,000-$279,500 USD in CA, NY, CT, and NJ; $254,000-$268,000 USD in WA; $243,000-$256,500 USD in several other states; and $221,000-$233,000 USD in all other states.
