Description

  • Design, build, and maintain high-quality backend applications.
  • Lead the backend system roadmap with an emphasis on scalability and reliability.
  • Develop new features that improve the customer shopping experience.
  • Own major components of the product and ensure they meet internal and external expectations.
  • Collaborate across engineering, product, ML, and data science teams to drive product development.
  • Plan, execute, deploy, and maintain projects from inception through production.
  • Contribute to backend services that support recommendation, personalization, and order quality experiences.
  • Help deliver end-to-end post-checkout functionality, including order status updates and customer communications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend development experience with a strong record of project delivery.
  • Proficiency in backend languages such as Ruby or Go.
  • Strong unit testing and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with recommender systems and personalization algorithms preferred.
  • Familiarity with ML model development and iteration preferred.
  • Deep understanding of feed architecture principles preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog preferred.
  • Extensive experience with database management, particularly PostgreSQL preferred.

  • Highly market-competitive compensation.
  • Base salary range of $230,000–$242,000 USD in CA, NY, CT, and NJ.
  • Base salary range of $220,000–$232,000 USD in WA.
  • Base salary range of $211,000–$222,000 USD in OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, and HI.
  • Base salary range of $192,000–$202,000 USD in all other states.
  • Eligible for a new hire equity grant.
  • Eligible for annual refresh equity grants.
