Description

  • Design, build, and evolve developer platforms and tooling, including build systems, CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, and code quality workflows.
  • Improve engineering velocity and reliability by reducing build and test times, eliminating flaky steps, and hardening developer workflows.
  • Own critical roadmap areas end to end, from defining goals and success metrics through implementation and operationalization.
  • Establish secure-by-default development guardrails in partnership with security and infrastructure teams.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams and guide architectural decisions and engineering standards.
  • Document patterns and maintain high standards for engineering quality across the organization.
  • Mentor other engineers and promote best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with product engineering, infrastructure, and security to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
  • 3+ years of experience developing developer tooling, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, or internal platforms.
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript, with strong software design and code review skills.
  • Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD systems and build tooling such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, Bazel, or Pants.
  • Experience shipping and operating services on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Docker and Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving engineering KPIs such as build/test cycle time, flaky test rate, or deployment frequency.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with experience partnering across infrastructure, security, and product engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: experience with monorepo strategies and build/test optimizations such as remote caching, test sharding, and hermetic builds.
  • Preferred: background building internal developer platforms or portals such as Backstage and defining golden paths for service development.
  • Preferred: familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and platform automation tools such as Terraform and Helm, plus service networking technologies such as gRPC and Protobuf.
  • Preferred: strong observability skills with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana, and a data-driven approach to prioritization and measurement.
  • Preferred: experience leading multi-team initiatives and influencing roadmaps without direct authority.
