Description

  • Own and articulate the technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for Enterprise Platform APIs, tools, and data models.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 10+ software engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Design and deliver high-scale, low-latency APIs and distributed services using REST and gRPC.
  • Define API contracts, versioning policies, and schema management practices.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Business Development, Professional Services, Data Science, and engineering teams to drive platform adoption.
  • Oversee production services end to end, including SLOs/SLAs, on-call operations, incident response, and postmortems.
  • Improve developer velocity and product quality through tooling, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
  • Drive cross-org initiatives that support enterprise objectives and retailer needs.
  • Raise the bar for reliability, operational excellence, and inclusive team culture.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing teams of 10+ software engineers.
  • Proven experience leading backend or platform teams that build and operate high-scale, low-latency APIs and distributed services.
  • Hands-on experience with service-oriented architectures, API design, data modeling, and schema or version management.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Java, or Python.
  • Experience building services on a major cloud provider such as AWS or GCP.
  • Experience running always-on services, including SLOs/SLAs, on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortem improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and deliver technical roadmaps and ship cross-functional projects end to end.
  • Experience hiring, coaching, and performance managing engineers in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: expertise with observability and reliability tooling, plus resiliency or chaos testing.
  • Preferred: success driving platform adoption across multiple stakeholder teams.
  • Preferred: domain experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, or enterprise platforms.
  • Preferred: experience improving developer velocity using AI technologies.
  • Preferred: advanced degree in a relevant field.
