Description

  • Define and lead the overall research operations strategy to align research programs with enterprise vision and long-term innovation goals.
  • Drive operational excellence across research programs by building and optimizing processes for proposal development, project delivery, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Develop multi-year strategic plans for research funding, partnership growth, and resource allocation, and build a sustainable research funding framework.
  • Oversee a global portfolio of research partnerships (universities, government, industry consortia) and lead enterprise-wide grant management and funding acquisition.
  • Establish governance frameworks to ensure compliance with grant regulations, ethical standards, data security, and research integrity.
  • Manage budgets and allocate financial and human capital across research programs to optimize ROI and resource utilization.
  • Reduce organizational silos and enable cross-functional integration with product/software development and other divisions to ensure timely knowledge transfer and requirements communication.
  • Champion adoption of AI, data analytics, and workflow automation to modernize research delivery and define metrics for research impact, outcomes, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent IOG externally as a senior spokesperson at global conferences, consortia, and policy forums and engage stakeholders, donors, and government bodies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop research teams through succession planning, capability development, leadership coaching, and by fostering an inclusive, accountable research culture.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in research management, partnerships, or operations roles, with at least 5 years at senior leadership level (desirable).
  • PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related research field (desirable).
  • Advanced leadership or management certification (e.g., Executive MBA, research leadership training) (desirable).
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar research portfolios and funding strategies.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder research programs across academia, industry, and government.
  • Established network within research funding agencies, universities, and technology innovation ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of blockchain, distributed ledger technologies, or emerging technology research landscapes.
  • Executive communication skills and stakeholder influence at C-level and industry forums; policy and governance leadership in research integrity and compliance.
  • Financial acumen in multi-program research funding, budget oversight, KPI frameworks, and research information systems.
  • Proven record of developing global research strategies, policies, governance frameworks, and driving large-scale operational transformation.
