Description

  • Design, build, and operate the Indexer’s Rust components, including the chain indexer, wallet indexer, SPO indexer, and GraphQL API.
  • Build and maintain the data pipeline that fetches blocks and transactions from the Midnight node via subxt.
  • Handle finalized-block tracking, gap backfilling, and continuous real-time indexing.
  • Design efficient schemas and queries for PostgreSQL and SQLite while maintaining healthy latency and throughput.
  • Evolve the GraphQL API, including queries, mutations, and real-time WebSocket subscriptions, with secure wallet-session and shielded-data handling.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests with a strong focus on reliability and correctness.
  • Own operational quality for the service, including observability, Docker-based deployment, and incident response.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions with node, ledger, wallet, and security teams.
  • Contribute to adjacent platform components such as the node and ledger as you ramp up.
  • Keep current with Rust and blockchain developments and apply them to improve the platform.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in Rust.
  • Strong, idiomatic Rust experience, including async/await with tokio and concurrency.
  • Experience building and operating high-performance backend services or data pipelines in production.
  • Practical experience with PostgreSQL and/or SQLite, including schema design and query optimisation.
  • Experience designing and evolving service APIs; GraphQL experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong computer-science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
  • Comfort with rigorous testing, code review, and clear technical communication.
  • Effective remote collaboration across time zones.
  • Preferred experience with Substrate / Polkadot ecosystem, especially subxt, pallets, and runtime development.
  • Preferred familiarity with blockchain concepts, applied cryptography, zero-knowledge systems, WASM, and Cardano partner-chain context.
