Description

  • Manage and mentor a team of typically 6-12 QA professionals across one or two teams embedded in software engineering groups.
  • Coordinate implementation plans, milestone planning, QA resources, and testing coverage across projects.
  • Monitor QA bandwidth, documentation updates, and testing schedules in partnership with development managers and project teams.
  • Shape QA test strategy and improve the efficiency of technical resources to meet coverage needs.
  • Identify and escalate issues, resolve team questions, and synthesize feedback for QA leadership.
  • Communicate strategy, ticket ownership, and cross-team or cross-departmental coordination needs clearly.
  • Attend planning meetings to manage team pace, maintain urgency, and help prevent burnout.
  • Advise teams on ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness through quality principles, tools, and processes.
  • Partner with QA leadership on staffing decisions, release activities, and regression test planning.
  • Build strong relationships with direct reports through regular 1:1s, coaching, performance management, and career development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or comparable experience.
  • 8 years of industry experience.
  • Managerial experience or a proven track record in technical leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to document issues effectively and concisely.
  • Good understanding of QA tools, including virtualization, source control, automation frameworks, and test case management.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies such as SCRUM.
  • Ability to lead and guide teams of 4 or more employees.
