Description

  • Conduct requirements elicitation sessions with clinical and operational stakeholders to gather, document, and validate system requirements.
  • Perform requirements analysis and maintain traceability from stakeholder needs through system specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop requirements documentation, user stories, use cases, and process models for clinical informatics applications.
  • Create information models such as data flow diagrams, entity-relationship models, and conceptual data schemas.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing by developing test scripts, tracking defects, and documenting results.
  • Maintain artifact documentation for systems that capture or standardize health, clinical, or life sciences data.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical subject matter experts and technical development teams.
  • Support process improvement efforts by identifying gaps and inefficiencies in existing clinical informatics systems.
  • Assist with training materials, standard operating procedures, and user guides for health IT systems.
  • Participate in project status reviews, stakeholder meetings, and deliverable reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in health IT or informatics-related work.
  • At least 3 years of specialized experience in requirements elicitation, requirements analysis, user acceptance testing, and documentation of systems used to capture or standardize health, clinical, therapeutic discovery, medical research, or life sciences data.
  • 6 additional years of specialized experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
  • Experience working with the Veterans Health Administration or a similar federal health agency such as CDC, CMS, DHA, or HHS is preferred.
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one is preferred.
  • Experience managing requirements with tools or methodologies such as JIRA or similar tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical data standards such as HL7, FHIR, SNOMED CT, LOINC, or ICD-10 is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems, health information exchange platforms, or clinical data repositories is preferred.
  • Proficiency with process modeling notations such as BPMN or UML use case diagrams and documentation tools is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and complete technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and under general supervision, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
