Description

  • Drive security engineering across Hummingbird's infrastructure and security posture.
  • Manage vulnerability and dependency tooling, and design and enforce security controls.
  • Harden and maintain the AWS environment managed via Terraform to be audit-ready.
  • Develop threat intelligence programs that connect external threats to internal risk.
  • Support incident response and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with a small, senior, fully remote engineering team on prioritization, design, and coding.
  • Influence technical discussions around overall architecture and hosting strategy.
  • Contribute hands-on engineering while shaping long-term security decisions.
  • Help guide the company's security response to AI-related risks and attacks.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience, including 3-5 years in a dedicated security engineering role.
  • Experience as a Security Engineer, AppSec Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Startup experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to diagnose complex problems and identify root causes.
  • Comfort working with logs and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience working across infrastructure with Terraform and AWS.
  • Knowledge of network security, encryption, access controls, permissions, and architecture.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, high-security environments.
  • Focus on quality, testing, and security.
  • Interest in AI as both a productivity tool and a security threat vector.
  • Experience in the financial sector, especially compliance or fraud, is a bonus.
