Description

  • Implement assigned security controls across Kubernetes, Linux, database, and model-serving environments.
  • Build and operate monitoring and detection coverage, including metrics, dashboards, log aggregation, and alert routing.
  • Run scheduled vulnerability scans, track findings to closure, and maintain plans of action and milestones.
  • Develop Ansible and Python automation for hardening baselines and configuration-drift checks.
  • Support secrets management, network policy, and role-based access control initiatives.
  • Build deterministic collectors that gather, normalize, timestamp, and store security-control evidence.
  • Help develop AI tooling for control-catalog retrieval, evidence drafting, and scanner-output triage.
  • Maintain security documentation, test implemented controls, and document work for future assessment.
  • Prepare materials for security reviews and continuous monitoring reports.
  • Work with supervisors on evidence submitted to assessors or authorizing officials.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in IT, systems administration, help desk, network operations, or a comparable technical role.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field; equivalent experience or technical certification may substitute.
  • Working knowledge of Linux administration, preferably RHEL-based systems such as Rocky Linux and Ubuntu.
  • Comfort using the Linux command line to analyze logs, troubleshoot permissions, and investigate services.
  • Scripting experience with Bash and Python, including automating a real task.
  • Basic networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, firewalls, and request flows.
  • Basic familiarity with containers and interest in learning Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with version control and shared Git repositories.
  • Ability to follow procedures precisely, document work clearly, work independently, and communicate updates.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance; demonstrated interest in cybersecurity and federal security authorization.
  • Preferred: Security+, Network+, Linux+, Kubernetes, or cloud certifications; Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, NIST, federal IT, AI, home lab, CTF, or open-source experience.
