Description

Lead the technical strategy for WordPress security remediation and platform maintenance.
Upgrade and maintain WordPress core, themes, and plugins while preserving platform stability.
Identify, investigate, and remediate vulnerabilities found through security assessments and scanning tools.
Resolve critical and high-priority security issues across WordPress environments.
Review the existing architecture and recommend improvements for security, scalability, and maintainability.
Troubleshoot complex WordPress issues and deliver long-term solutions.
Document remediation work, technical findings, and future security recommendations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate risks, priorities, and implementation plans.
Ensure work follows WordPress security best practices and industry standards.

Requirements

Extensive experience with WordPress, including core architecture, customization, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Strong experience upgrading and maintaining secure WordPress environments.
Proven experience remediating vulnerabilities identified through security scans.
Deep knowledge of WordPress core, themes, third-party plugins, and their security implications.
Experience resolving critical and high-priority production security issues.
Ability to lead technical decisions and define architectural solutions.
Senior-level experience as a Technology Lead, WordPress Architect, or Senior WordPress Engineer.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Professional English proficiency and ability to collaborate effectively in global teams.

Benefits

Remote work within Canada, with location also noted as LATAM, Canada, or the USA.
Freelance contract with potential future opportunities based on business needs.
Short-term contract dates: August 3, 2026 to August 21, 2026.
Total contract hours: 120.
Hourly rate of $130–$150 CAD.
Use of your own computer and equipment.
