Description

  • Design and optimize large-scale data systems built on SQL (Postgres), MongoDB, ElasticSearch, ClickHouse, and Redis.
  • Build and maintain reusable frameworks, SDKs, and core platform services in Node.js and Go.
  • Architect high-performance services that handle terabytes of data and support sub-second query latencies.
  • Instrument, benchmark, and tune query paths, indexing, memory and CPU usage, and storage layouts.
  • Lead technical design reviews, establish engineering best practices, and mentor senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with product and platform teams to define data-access patterns, system design, and SLA expectations.
  • Partner across teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable platform capabilities.
  • Establish governance for backup/restore, disaster recovery, security, and compliance across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Contribute to database automation and platform reliability using CI/CD, containers, and infrastructure-as-code tools.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of overall software engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated success with distributed systems or large-scale backend services.
  • Extensive experience configuring, tuning, and operating large-scale managed databases at TB–PB scale with billions of records.
  • Hands-on experience scaling systems with ElasticSearch, Firestore, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Redis.
  • Proven mastery of any programming language with clean, testable code.
  • Strong ability to lead technically, navigate ambiguity, and deliver impactful results.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems principles, including CAP, consistency, consensus, and observability best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Docker or Kubernetes, and IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible for database automation.
  • Solid understanding of SQL fundamentals; experience with relational engines is a plus.
  • Experience leading multi-region or hybrid-cloud data platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with ClickHouse-based real-time analytics or ElasticSearch at scale is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with streaming or ETL frameworks such as PubSub, Kafka, Pulsar, Spark, or Flink is preferred.
