Description

  • Set the technical direction for the ML systems behind menu personalization, owning the end-to-end stack including feature pipelines, training workflows, model serving, experimentation tooling, and infrastructure.
  • Take research and experiments into reliable production systems that meet latency, scalability, and observability requirements.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape the personalization roadmap and back decisions with data and user evidence.
  • Operate and improve production systems by instrumenting, monitoring, and debugging them in live environments.
  • Raise the technical bar through architecture reviews, mentorship, and strong production ML practices.
  • Make long-term architecture and platform decisions that influence the team and broader organization over multiple years.
  • Drive engineering excellence beyond the team by setting standards that other ML and data teams adopt.
  • Collaborate across HelloFresh on best practices and contribute to company-wide engineering initiatives.
  • Work closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Backend Engineers to take models from notebook to production and support online inference paths.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building and operating production ML systems, with technical leadership at scale.
  • Proven experience making architectural decisions that held up over multiple years and influenced teams beyond your own.
  • Production experience with recommender systems or large-scale personalization is a strong plus.
  • Fluency in Python and Spark for data and ML work.
  • Fluency in Go, Kafka, and Kubernetes for backend and platform work.
  • Hands-on experience across pipelines, model serving, and observability at scale.
  • Strong statistical literacy to design honest experiments and evaluate whether models are actually improving outcomes.
  • Operational judgment to diagnose system issues, identify root causes, and debug systems under real load.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot beyond casual experimentation.
  • Product sense with the ability to connect technical choices to business value and ship work through to completion.
