Description

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of evaluation methods for assessing the realism of multimodal world models and generative simulation systems.
  • Architect and implement scalable machine learning pipelines for tuning, evaluating, and deploying large-scale discriminator models.
  • Evaluate video generation techniques using realism metrics such as temporal stability, multimodal consistency, geometric discrepancy, and condition following.
  • Apply vision-language models to assess semantic understanding and controllability in world simulation products.
  • Collaborate with research teams across Waymo and Alphabet to bring 4D world modeling and generative AI advances into production systems.
  • Mentor engineers on the team and provide technical guidance on architecture and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in computer science, machine learning, robotics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied deep learning, with a portfolio of shipped products or peer-reviewed publications.
  • Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as JAX, Flax, or PyTorch.
  • Experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks for complex systems or machine learning models.
  • Track record of training large-scale generative models, such as diffusion models, flow matching models, or vision-language models (preferred).
  • PhD with demonstrated success delivering machine learning products focused on 3D generative models, world models, or video generation (preferred).
  • Experience simulating sensor data, including camera, lidar, and radar, or modeling semantic scenes (preferred).
  • Experience developing autonomous systems, robotics software, or autonomous vehicle simulations (preferred).
  • Experience training and optimizing large-scale models on GPU or TPU clusters for efficient production serving (preferred).
  • Professional experience writing C++ for high-performance production systems (preferred).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $213,000 to $263,000 USD.
  • Eligibility for Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program.
