Description

  • Lead junior permitting staff to support company objectives efficiently and effectively.
  • Partner with the project development team to ensure timely permitting of development-stage projects and permit compliance for construction and operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal permitting authorities.
  • Evaluate permitting requirements from project pursuit through execution and communicate scope, budget, and schedule to senior management.
  • Monitor evolving environmental stewardship practices and improve internal permitting processes for PV, BESS, and hydrogen projects.
  • Identify required environmental studies early in the project lifecycle and coordinate timing for financing and permit needs.
  • Ensure early- and mid-stage development permits are obtained in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Oversee EPCs to confirm late-stage construction ministerial permits are secured.
  • Manage consultant selection, contract qualified environmental and permitting support, and review consultant deliverables for technical and jurisdictional accuracy.
  • Prepare permit applications, represent the company in hearings and proceedings, and maintain permit documentation and conditions.
  • Provide weekly status updates to the Senior Director of Permitting on milestones, issues, and challenges.
  • Perform additional job-related duties and special requests as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Direct experience with federal authorizations requiring NEPA compliance.
  • Direct experience with state authorizations involving complex environmental reviews such as CA CEQA, OR EFSC, or WA SEPA.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy development.
  • Experience in both western U.S. and eastern U.S. jurisdictions preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in public outreach.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to troubleshoot problems independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage five or more projects at once, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidence interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Ideal candidate should be within commuting distance of the Irvine, California office, with possible remote work opportunity.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $160,000 to $175,000.
  • Potential opportunity to work remotely.
  • Travel and location flexibility, including project-based travel across North America.
