Description

  • Design and implement scalable integrations for infrastructure components, databases, and applications.
  • Build middleware components, SDKs, and libraries that simplify observability solution development and maintenance.
  • Work with product, design, and documentation teams to develop features aligned with product strategy and customer needs.
  • Support the technical direction and long-term vision of the observability team.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Support to deliver a cohesive customer experience.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and own the services you run.
  • Represent Grafana Labs in open source forums, working groups, and events when needed.
  • Contribute to open source projects and communities, including observability-related initiatives.
  • Drive technical implementations with upstream communities and contribute to business and strategy discussions.
  • Mentor teammates and help identify areas for team and process improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with at least one programming language; Go is used but not required.
  • Long-term experience in a major language such as Python, .NET, Java, or Rust, with willingness to learn Go.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one major cloud provider, including core services, APIs, identity and access models, networking, and operational patterns.
  • Experience with cloud-based software development and production systems.
  • Experience writing clean, maintainable, robust, and performant software.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience driving projects from ideation to production.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Experience participating in on-call rotation and incident management.
  • Experience designing and building observability backends (preferred).
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects with successful pull requests and community collaboration (preferred).
  • Understanding of metrics collection, visualization, and alerting concepts (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and an independent, transparent working style.
  • Ability to work remotely from the UK, Spain, Germany, or Sweden.
