Description

  • Lead the Corporate Engineering team across corporate systems, employee device lifecycles, helpdesk queues, and internal tooling development.
  • Oversee the optimization of the current IT operations stack and drive the internal AI-native strategy.
  • Design and implement employee-enabling corporate security controls, compliance checks, guardrails, and paved roads.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiations, and contracts with core SaaS providers.
  • Make work and costs visible to internal stakeholders and use that visibility to continuously improve processes.
  • Leverage Grafana’s product ecosystem to solve corporate engineering problems and open-source useful solutions where possible.
  • Lead within the broader Foundations organization alongside platform, business application, and security teams.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide continuous feedback through regular 1:1s and team leadership.
  • Participate directly in work queues, review design documents, and contribute to the team’s on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Experience running a software engineering operations team with a strong engineering background.
  • Ability to engage in technical discussions and help teams reach strong technical decisions.
  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud provider and k8s.
  • Deep hands-on experience managing and automating modern corporate IT systems across Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
  • Experience with SSO tools such as Okta and 1Password, workplace tools such as Google Workspace and Office, and MDM tools such as Jamf, Intune, FleetDM, and Kolide.
  • Experience with EDR, DLP, and corporate SaaS platforms such as Salesforce and Zendesk.
  • Experience with AI providers and tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, and Google.
  • A DevOps mindset focused on enablement, automation, and guardrails rather than gates and roadblocks.
  • Knowledge of the current AI state of the art and how to apply it safely across the enterprise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence autonomous technical teams.
  • Ability to work Eastern-time-oriented hours with overlap for EMEA collaboration.
  • Technical background in programming or software engineering before moving into leadership, with Go and multi-cloud experience as a plus.
  • Kubernetes expertise is a plus.
  • Experience leveraging and securing AI tooling for non-development, code, and agentic automation use cases is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Grafana Labs OSS projects and observability tooling is a plus.
  • Experience working with open-source communities is a plus.

  • Base compensation range in the UK of GBP 117,000 to GBP 147,000, depending on level, experience, and skillset.
