Description

  • Manage and develop the Alloy engineering team, including regular feedback and career conversations.
  • Support the team’s collaboration with the OpenTelemetry collector community and help remove roadblocks.
  • Work closely with go-to-market teams to support customers and prospects using Alloy.
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to align Alloy with the Grafana Cloud user experience.
  • Guide projects from early ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch.
  • Foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across team boundaries and partner with other functions to solve customer problems.
  • Provide leadership that helps the team deliver high-quality results consistently.

Requirements

  • Experience leading or managing engineering teams in a remote, distributed environment.
  • Enough domain knowledge in observability and OpenTelemetry to manage a team working with the OpenTelemetry collector community.
  • Comfort working with autonomous engineering teams and supporting technical and product decision-making.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and improve team performance.
  • Customer-focused mindset with decisions grounded in user needs and real-world impact.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.
  • Curious and comfortable using AI-powered tools in daily workflow, with practical experience integrating them into team processes preferred.
