Description

  • Manage and develop the Alloy engineering team, including regular feedback and career development conversations.
  • Support the team’s collaboration with the OpenTelemetry collector community and help remove roadblocks.
  • Work closely with go-to-market teams to help customers and prospects succeed with Alloy.
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to ensure Alloy fits the Grafana Cloud user experience.
  • Guide projects from early ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch delivery.
  • Foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across team boundaries and with other functions to solve customer problems.
  • Contribute to initiatives outside the immediate team scope when needed.

Requirements

  • Domain knowledge in observability and OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience managing engineering teams with a strong sense of autonomy.
  • Ability to manage relationships while staying current on technical trends.
  • Comfort collaborating across time zones and cultures in a fully remote environment.
  • Strong, empathetic communication skills that build trust and psychological safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and improve team performance.
  • Deep customer focus with decisions grounded in user needs and real-world impact.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tools and ideally practical experience incorporating them into a team workflow.
  • Candidates must be located in NASA (EST-only) or EMEA time zones.
