Description

  • Design, implement, and evolve moderate to complex backend features with minimal guidance.
  • Make pragmatic architectural trade-offs across modular monoliths, shared components, and independently operated services.
  • Improve product quality, security, availability, maintainability, and performance across backend systems.
  • Define backend standards for style, testing, APIs, operational readiness, and maintainability.
  • Mentor associate and intermediate engineers and help remove technical blockers.
  • Review code and designs to improve team delivery practices.
  • Diagnose, prevent, and respond to performance and reliability issues at scale.
  • Participate in incident response and act as a technical owner when needed.
  • Use AI in production engineering workflows and coach others on responsible use.
  • Collaborate across product, frontend, infrastructure, data, and security boundaries.

Requirements

  • Strong backend architecture, API, data systems, and performance tuning experience in a complex product or service environment.
  • Proficiency in modern backend languages and systems programming, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures.
  • Ability to lead through influence, technical judgment, and clear written communication.
  • Proven experience building or operating agentic systems in production beyond prompt engineering.
  • Experience with high-throughput distributed systems, concurrency, or profiling is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with containerized production operations such as Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Deep database performance knowledge such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, schema evolution, or partitioning is preferred.
  • Background in large-scale modular monoliths or event-driven systems is preferred.
  • Public technical communication, open-source maintenance, or developer-focused SaaS experience is preferred.
