Description

  • Diagnose business problems by mapping workflows, identifying constraints, and determining whether AI is the right solution.
  • Own AI initiatives end-to-end from stakeholder discovery and technical design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
  • Design, develop, and ship AI-powered solutions and prototypes quickly with a focus on measurable business value.
  • Improve organizational flow by reducing bottlenecks, shortening lead times, and increasing throughput.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows using APIs, orchestration tools, and AI platforms.
  • Act as Customer Zero by using GitLab's AI offerings internally and sharing usage insights with R&D.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify constraints and align on desired outcomes.
  • Define and track success using business metrics, flow metrics, adoption, and ROI.
  • Evaluate tools, document patterns, and create reusable foundations to help scale the team's impact.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern scripting language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and integration patterns.
  • Deep practical experience with modern AI technologies, including prompt engineering, model selection, RAG, and agentic architecture patterns.
  • Experience with AI safety and risk controls such as input validation, output filtering, access controls, prompt injection defenses, and data leakage prevention.
  • Ability to map complex processes, identify bottlenecks, and trace root causes using systems thinking and diagnostic rigor.
  • Familiarity with enterprise business systems such as Salesforce, Marketo, Zendesk, Workato, Relevance AI, and Glean.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across diverse domains and understand their needs quickly.
  • Track record of owning complex initiatives from discovery through delivery and driving measurable outcomes independently.
  • Product mindset with the ability to scope MVPs, prioritize ruthlessly, and deliver iteratively.
  • Preferred: Experience with GitLab platform and CI/CD workflows, consulting or customer-facing technical roles, flow metrics or Theory of Constraints, low-code/no-code orchestration tools like n8n, Make, or Workato, startup or high-growth company experience, and mentoring or leading junior engineers.
