Description

  • Analyze order book data, including spreads, depth, liquidity layers, order flow, and volatility patterns.
  • Study market microstructure and how market behavior changes across different volatility regimes.
  • Research basis, funding, contango/backwardation, and cross-exchange price deviations.
  • Build statistical models to detect regime shifts, volatility clusters, and relationships between features and realized PnL.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate market quality and liquidity.
  • Apply machine learning methods to order book features and short-horizon price prediction.
  • Evaluate model stability, latency impact, and overfitting risks.
  • Test hypotheses and ideas from traders and turn findings into models that can support production strategies.
  • Build lightweight simulation environments for market-making and directional strategies.
  • Run scenario-based stress tests and model hedging effectiveness across exchanges and instruments.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python, especially pandas, numpy, scipy, sklearn, and statsmodels.
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques for time series or microstructure-style data.
  • Solid foundation in statistics, including distributions, variance, regressions, and probability.
  • Experience building models for prediction, classification, or clustering through projects, coursework, or work experience.
  • Experience with deep learning for time series using PyTorch or TensorFlow is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL or TimescaleDB for querying large datasets is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing tick-level or Level 2 data from Binance, KuCoin, Bybit, or similar exchanges is preferred.
  • Exposure to crypto markets or market-making concepts is preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take ownership of work, and contribute in a research-focused environment.
