Description

  • Own the architecture and implementation of distributed backend systems and APIs that serve machine learning models in production.
  • Lead technical design for AI integrations across product lines, including real-time and batch inference with LLMs, transformers, and classification models.
  • Fine-tune and deploy pre-trained models from platforms such as Hugging Face and OpenAI for business-critical use cases.
  • Evaluate and integrate external AI services, making build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Define platform standards for backend engineering, MLOps, model governance, observability, automation, and security.
  • Mentor engineers across teams and improve system design and code quality.
  • Collaborate with product, ML research, data engineering, and DevOps leaders to align technical initiatives with business goals.
  • Influence AI strategy and roadmap by evaluating emerging technologies and frameworks.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and performance tuning to maintain reliable, efficient, and scalable systems.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years at Staff Engineer level or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of backend development experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and SQL-based relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • 1+ year deploying ML/AI models to production, including hands-on fine-tuning of LLMs or transformer-based models.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, AWS cloud infrastructure, and scalable API design.
  • Experience with data pipeline and infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, dbt, and Dagster.
  • Experience with model deployment practices and ML lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to set technical direction, mentor engineers, and lead cross-team initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Ability to bridge research and production while prioritizing reliability, maintainability, security, and business outcomes.
