Description

  • Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of advanced control systems for an autonomous vehicle fleet.
  • Model vehicle dynamics and establish baselines for motion planning.
  • Adapt and train control models to transition between different vehicle platforms.
  • Develop, optimize, and implement robust control stacks for safe and reliable operations.
  • Evaluate advanced control schemes across different vehicle architectures.
  • Design computationally efficient control and planning algorithms for hardware and compute-constrained robots.
  • Verify, validate, and debug new control schemes on physical robots.
  • Lead architectural discussions for the controller-level safety layer.
  • Develop low-latency safety behaviors for vehicle fleets operating in unstructured environments.
  • Deploy multi-agent behaviors and bridge advanced research into reliable product development for real-world robotics.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field focused on planning, controls, or multi-agent systems, or an MS in a related field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Deep expertise in modern control theory, including predictive and sampling-based control methods such as MPC and MPPI.
  • Experience with vehicle dynamics modeling.
  • Proven experience deploying complex control and planning algorithms on physical robots, not just in simulation.
  • Experience working with large-scale or off-road autonomous vehicles in unstructured, real-world environments.
  • Ability to design and implement computationally constrained control schemes for embedded robotic platforms.
  • Ability to verify, validate, and debug complex control architectures across new vehicle platforms.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to serve as a resident technical expert.
  • Hands-on experience with C++, Python, CUDA, ROS1/2, Docker, and Linux.
  • Preferred: experience with field robotics, off-road vehicles, or high-speed/safety-critical robotic systems.
  • Preferred: background in classical and learning-based controllers.
  • Preferred: experience with low SWaP robotic platforms.
  • Preferred: prior ownership of system integration or technical leadership for a robotic platform.
  • Preferred: experience mentoring junior engineers or leading integration efforts in small teams.
  • Preferred: familiarity with autonomy stacks, planning systems, or real-time robotics software architectures.
  • Preferred: knowledge of Kubernetes and modern DevOps practices.
