Description

  • Lead technical discovery calls to uncover requirements, constraints, and success criteria.
  • Design and present AI, ML, and data system architectures live with prospects.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into scoped, deliverable engagements and statements of work.
  • Serve as the technical authority on deals and defend architectural choices with prospects.
  • Build technical proposals, reference architectures, and proof-of-concept plans.
  • Partner with delivery leadership to ensure clean handoffs from sales to implementation teams.
  • Develop reusable solution patterns, demos, and reference implementations.
  • Stay current on AI/ML developments and apply that perspective in client conversations.
  • Provide feedback to product, delivery, and marketing teams based on prospect needs.
  • Represent Factored externally through webinars, technical content, conferences, and customer events.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of total professional engineering experience with increasing technical responsibility.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related production-focused role.
  • Strong machine learning system design skills, including end-to-end architecture, trade-off analysis, and defending design choices.
  • Deep practical experience with GenAI/LLM systems, including RAG, agentic patterns, evaluation frameworks, prompt/context engineering, fine-tuning, and inference infrastructure.
  • Working fluency across the data stack, including batch and streaming pipelines, warehouses or lakehouses, feature stores, and analytics workflows.
  • Advanced English proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client-facing ability to present, listen, and turn ambiguity into a concrete plan.
  • Ability to execute in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with end-to-end ownership.
  • Structured thinking under time pressure to decompose client problems into clear architectures in a 60-minute call.
  • Preferred: prior Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or pre-sales experience at a services firm, AI/ML platform, or cloud provider.
  • Preferred: experience writing technical proposals or statements of work for consulting engagements.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Bedrock, Vertex, SageMaker, Databricks Mosaic, or agentic frameworks.
  • Preferred: familiarity with GenAI evaluation tooling and methods, including offline evals, online metrics, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
  • Preferred: domain experience in financial services, healthcare, retail/e-commerce, logistics, or similar verticals.
  • Preferred: public technical presence through talks, posts, open-source work, or community contributions.
  • Preferred: experience working with US-based clients across LATAM time zones.
  • Preferred: production experience taking ML or AI systems from prototype to deployment, including serving, observability, cost/latency optimization, and failure handling.
