Description

  • Act as the technical owner and subject matter expert for IBM AIX and Power Systems platforms.
  • Design, architect, and standardize enterprise-scale AIX and pSeries environments.
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, build patterns, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance on capacity planning, scalability, and platform modernization.
  • Review and approve complex designs across compute, storage, virtualization, and networking.
  • Lead VIOS architecture, build, upgrade, and high availability design.
  • Manage AIX lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, and kernel tuning.
  • Execute AIX OS, hardware refresh, data center, and storage/SAN migrations.
  • Own NIM design and usage and develop zero-downtime or minimal-impact migration strategies.
  • Perform advanced performance analysis, incident escalation, major incident management, RCA, automation, governance, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • 12–15+ years of hands-on experience with IBM AIX and Power Systems.
  • Expert-level knowledge of AIX OS administration and kernel internals.
  • Expert-level knowledge of PowerVM, VIOS, and HMC.
  • Strong expertise in pSeries architecture, SAN storage, high availability, disaster recovery, and enterprise networking.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale migrations and platform transformations.
  • Advanced shell scripting and automation skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • IBM certifications in AIX System Administration, Power Systems/pSeries Hardware, Performance Tuning, or Network Administration are preferred.
  • Experience in mission-critical, regulated, or global enterprise environments is preferred.
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud or IBM Power on Cloud architectures is preferred.
  • Comfort working in rotational on-call models when required.
