Description

  • Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization.
  • Lead cross-organizational initiatives to build observability solutions.
  • Work with a globally distributed engineering team on Elasticsearch logs and metrics capabilities.
  • Improve operational and system quality through clean coding standards and architectural clarity.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technical mentor across Elasticsearch.
  • Triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests with the global community.
  • Write and maintain idiomatic modern Java code.
  • Collaborate with domain experts across teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong core Java skills, including a deep understanding of concurrency primitives.
  • Proven ability to design and optimize efficient data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience building high-performance, scalable database, search, or distributed systems.
  • Experience with storage, indexing, query execution, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and teams in a distributed environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions through asynchronous, direct, transparent communication.
  • Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code.
  • Prompt-engineering mindset with sound engineering judgment to validate AI results and limitations.
  • Experience implementing techniques to efficiently index, store, and query time-series or logs data.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bonus points: experience with Elasticsearch, open source workflows, continuous integration, data storage technology, or database/search/OS/cloud service development.

  • Typical starting salary range of €67,000–€106,000 EUR.
